Sector 7 By: David Wiesner

Title: Sector 7
Author: David Weisner
Publication/Date: Clarion Books, 1999
IBSN: 0-395-74656-6

Summary: Sector 7 is about a boy who on a school trip to New York City, specifically the Empire State Building, comes across a friendly cloud that takes him to a place known as Sector 7. He finds out there how clouds are formed, shaped, and channeled.

Evaluation/Rating: The book is beautifully illustrated, and from the beginning to end, you get a feel for the story even though there are no words in the entire book. Wiesner does a fantastic job depicting the details of the clouds, and the scenery. The colors used are brilliant, and for that I give it a 4.

  1. I have never read this book before but I did read other books by him though. I will have to check into this one. It sounds like there are a lot of details in the book that I would love to see!

  2. Wow, this is a new one for me too by Wiesner. I cannot wait to see it in person. The title makes me think of post-apocolypse fantasy like Four and Hunger Games. Does it relate to the future of the world at all?

    1. It gives a very fantasy image when I first read it, and it is a great book. It relates to clouds the idea of how we sometimes see animals, or objects from cloud formations. It gives the idea what if there were people somewhere making these formations.

  4. Seems like a good way to teach some science content! If it is accurate, that is. By the way, you keep saying you give your books a 4, but what is that out of? 4/4?

    1. Oh wow haha I did not even realize I was not specifying why I did the rating like that. I just do it out of 5, but I think the rating is suppose to be my feel of how I like the book, not giving it a number so just ignore that haha sorry.

  5. I also did this book and enjoyed it. From the cover it does not seem like it is a book about clouds!
